Micro Blogging vs Blogspot

Microblogs have become more popular these days. We all love to post short messages, status, rants and Emoticons on our Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook accounts. Microblogging looks set to even replace the "proper" or more traditional blogging soon. I want to analyse a bit on the popularity of microblogs as compared to the traditional blogging.

I know many who abandoned traditional blogging in favour of microblogging. I think it was the blogging fatigue that took over them. Writing a blog post consistently requires much research, ability to express oneself, and discipline. Not many could maintain such stamina. Many blogs tend to write about their authors' own lives. Almost 80% of the bloggers out there will continuously apologise for the lack of updates to their blogs, blaming their lack of time or their uneventful lives.

Twitter and Facebook, however, continue to prosper. Short and punchy sentences on those social networking platforms take no more than 1 to 2 minutes to complete. Twitters' micro-bloggers also do gain huge amounts of followings. Bloggers are able to fully express their emotions or thoughts without having to give lengthy explanations and without needing to do any research. These are rather effortless, convenient and fun.

However, just like our old diaries, proper blogging on your own websites or Blogspot is irreplaceable. Not only would it boost up the number of your loyal readers, it would also give you many more benefits. First, you will be able to exert more influence on your readers through proper blogging. Nothing can affect the soul as deep as words. Lengthy and detailed descriptions and explanation can bring out the meaning of your thoughts/opinions more vividly and powerfully. Your lengthy blog post will certainly be more influential. Thoughts leaders and thinkers keep "proper"  blogs as indispensable tools for achieving their aims. Even our Prime Minister, Najib, uses blogs on a frequent basis to update us about his political life.

Another thing is that blogging will also help boost up your SEO effort. You could be ranked highly by search engines by blogging about relevant content consistently and frequently. The impact blogging can have on your SEO is irreplaceable by your micro-blogging platforms. Millions of people use Google daily for their web surfing. Having good SEO strategies such as blogging frequently will go a long way in boosting your traffic and increasing your ranking in the search engines.

All of your efforts in blogging could give you great rewards in the end. You may be paid thousands to just write a blog post or just to spare some space in your blogs for advertising purposes. All these great rewards may seem elusive to some avid bloggers, who have blogged for a considerable period of time. Great content and consistent writing are just part of the strategies in driving up your traffic. You still need to understand the bigger picture. Continue to learn more about strategies to boost up your traffic. There are so much more to writing great content that I might cover in my next few blog posts. Do stay tuned for more.
